Omdat de Costa Blanca een populaire bestemming is, is er veel informatie over de regio te vinden. Het is onmogelijk om alles op onze website te vermelden. Natuurlijk posten we onze favorieten, lokale hotspots en de beste tips en tricks.

De Costa Blanca is grofweg in te delen in twee delen: Costa Blanca zuid en Costa Blanca noord. Onze verblijven zijn in het noorden van de Costa Blanca, die zich uitstrekt van Alicante tot aan Dénia. De Costa Blanca noord bestaat uit verschillende kleinere regio's, zoals de Marina Alta.

De Marina Alta wordt begrensd door Calp in het zuiden en Dénia in het noorden. Het gaat landinwaarts tot aan Vall de Gallinera en Vall de Pop. Een kleine regio dus maar genoeg te doen. Je vindt er ongerepte stranden, ongerepte natuur en typisch Spaanse dorpjes. De regio staat ook bekend om zijn gastronomie, handwerk en lokale tradities.

Beaches Jávea/ Xàbia Costa Blanca

Sandy beaches, pebbles, steep cliffs. You’ll find all types of beaches at the Marina Alta. Most of them offer facilities like beach bars (chiringuitos) or restaurants and toilets. At some beaches you can rent beds and sunshades or watersports equipment. Life guards are only present in summer.

Jávea/ Xàbia

Playa la Granadella, Jávea. This beach is a perfect horseshoe-shaped bay at the nature reserve Granadella. The intense blue water, dramatic cliffs and Mediterranean pines make it one of the most beautiful on the Costa Blanca. There is a beach bar and a few nearby restaurants, and the bay is famous for snorkelling. Services: lifeguards, parking, restaurant, beach bar, boat and kayak rental, sun lounger rental

Cala Portitxol, Jávea. White sand, gravel and water of an intense blue which, together with the wonderful setting and the typical vegetation of the Costa Blanca, results in a place of huge natural beauty, with all the charms required for a perfect family day at the beach. Playa el Arenal, Jávea. Arenal beach is the busiest beach on the Javea coast with fine sand and a slight slope in the shallow waters. Beaches Moraira Costa Blanca

Moraira

Playa del Portet, Moraira. One of the most idyllic beaches in the area: a beautiful cove with fine sand and beautiful clear water. Excellent for snorkling and watersports. Services: showers, accessible for disabled people, restaurants & bars, on street parking

Cala Moraig, Moraira. This spectacular beach is not the most accessible beach in Moraira but believes us, it is worth the journey. Breathtaking scenery, dramatic cliffs, and crystal clear water are awaiting you. This beach is perfect if you want to escape the Moraira crowds and enjoy the beach away from built-up areas. The left end of the beach is an unofficial nudist beach so keep that in mind!

Playa Ampolla, Moraira. With soft sand and shallow water, this is the most “family-friendly” beach in Moraira but also the busiest! The little ones can play safely on in the little stream that runs between the Barranc and the sea. They will also enjoy a playground, volleyball nets, shower and toilets as well as sunbed rentals. Grape picking in Llíber

Did you know this? The grape picking in Llíber in the Jalon Valley/ Vall de Pop started last week. Most of the grapes are used to produce wine. Grapes are mainly brought to the two local bodegas in Jalón/ Xaló. But some of the inhabitants of Lliber keep an old tradition alive. They process the grapes into raisins: an old tradition.

In 1472 the Moors living in the Jalon valley sent a selection of wines to the Valencian Court. They negotiated with traders in Javea the sale of a product which, in time, would become the base of Marina Alta’s economy: raisins. The area is now famous for its local wines which belong to the ‘denominación de origen’ of Alicante and raisins are still produced in small quantities.

They harvest the grapes, dip them in boiling water and let them dry for about 30 days. Drying is still done as decades ago: on cane beds outside. When weather requires, the cane beds are taken inside the riuraus. This prevents the grapes of rotting and fungus. Riuraus are old arched buildings made from stone. They protect the grapes from rain but allow the wind going through. The most distinctive riurau is in Jávea/ Xàbia: d’Arnauda.

Most of the sultanas are not eaten by the Spanish, but exported to the United Kingdom. They are still transported as in the past: by boat from Denia.

Het is moeilijk om alle beste restaurants in Moraira op te noemen, maar we proberen het toch. Moraira biedt een breed scala aan restaurants, van typisch Spaanse tot high-end restaurants. We zijn er vrij zeker van dat je heerlijke plekken zult vinden om te eten. Ook buiten deze lijst.

  1. ARTESANO: Healthy, fresh food combined with an art gallery. Perfect spot for lunch or late breakfast. They offer plenty vegan and veggie options. Also take away
  2. CHIC: One of our favourite restaurants for a night out. The staff makes you feel more than welcome and give you a fantastic stay. The menu is Spanish-international and tasteful. At lunchtime they offer a lunch menu as well.
  3. EL RACÓ DE L’ARRÒS: U zult geen betere plek vinden voor een traditionele paella of fideúa (paella in vermicelli-stijl, typisch uit Comunidad Valencia)
  4. Cafe Bar Billy’s. Our hidden gem in Moraira. From the reknown Dénia chef Miquel Ruiz. Amazing, extremely tasteful tapas to share. The staff is outstanding and super friendly. They make you feel come home
  5. AMANTES: A luxury restaurant Nikkei style. Enjoy a lunch at the sun-drenched terrace with unbeatable sea views
  6. THE FOODBAR; Visited by a lot of Dutch and Belgian people it offers really lovely food. A toque of Asian style, French kitchen and some Spanish classic dishes
  7. ZANZIBAR: Our favourite hang-out for lazy summer nights. Cocktails with international tapas and sea view. Need to say more?
  8. LA CASITA: Lovely place to enjoy a family night out. A menu with many children options, super friendly staff and on a stone’s throw from El Portet beach. The perfect spot when you stay in Ca la Bahía

  10. A’ CAS E’ RENAT. Of course we have to close off with an Italian restaurant. So if you like a tasteful pizza, fresh pasta and the typical Italian atmosphere, go there!

Beste markten in Dénia

Denía heeft doordeweeks verschillende markten; allemaal populair en absoluut een bezoek waard. De beste markten van Dénia zijn divers en van goede kwaliteit. Een groot pluspunt is dat je er elke week terecht kan!

De rastro of vintage markt van Dénia is de perfecte plek voor liefhebbers van tweedehands artikelen en antiek. Beiden worden gecombineerd in een wekelijkse markt. Handelaren hebben een groot aanbod voor mensen die op zoek zijn naar items om te herstellen of te verzamelen.

Een van de meest bezochte markten in Dénia is die van de groente- en fruitstalletjes. De producenten uit Dénia en het omliggende gebied verkopen hun gewassen en verse producten op deze markt in Dénia.

De traditionele wekelijkse markt voor de boodschappen vindt elke maandag plaats. Het aanbod op de markt is zeer divers en gevarieerd. Op de markt vind je alles van kleding tot boodschappen, speelgoed of woonaccessoires tegen zeer scherpe prijzen.

De markt voor het lente- en zomerseizoen in Dénia is de zomermarkt, ook wel hippiemarkt genoemd. De markt os zowel overdag als 's nachts de plaats voor een ontspannen wandeling te maken om te genieten van het uitzicht en de kraampjes voor ambachten en accessoires. Je vindt er allerlei artikelen, van sieraden en fantasiesieraden tot tassen, speelgoed of souvenirs.

  • Wekelijkse markt: elke maandagochtend van 08:00 tot 13:00 op Torrecremada Esplanade
  • Groente- en fruitmarkt: elke vrijdagochtend van 08.00 tot 13.00 uur bij Carrer de la Via
  • Rastro: elke vrijdagochtend van 08:00 tot 13:00 bij Torrecremada Esplanade
  • Zomermarkt: elke dag van 17:00 tot 00:00 in de zomer (15/06 – 15/09) en in de rest van het jaar op weekenddagen en feestdagen. Gelegen aan de boulevard langs de haven

Mercat del Riu Rau Jesus Pobre

In het mooie dorpje Jesus Pobre is er elke zondag een bijzondere boerenmarkt: Mercat del Riu Rau. De markt is vernoemd naar het antieke Riu Rau-gebouw waar de markt wordt gehouden. Een Riu Rau is een gewelfd gebouw van vroeger waar druiven werden gedroogd om ultanarozijnen te worden.

Er zijn veel kraampjes, allemaal gerund door lokale mensen, die hun lokaal geteelde groenten en fruit verkopen, meestal biologisch. Ook een verscheidenheid aan kraampjes verkoopt ambachtelijke zelfgemaakte voedselproducten, zoals brood, cocas en empanadas, wijn, ambachtelijk bier en honing. Naarmate het seizoen verandert, veranderen ook de productel die worden verkocht.

Er zijn kraampjes met handwerk en kunst: bijvoorbeeld fantastische gebreide sjaals en omslagdoeken, prachtige sieraden, planten en handgemaakte rieten manden. De omliggende winkels zijn ook open, met schitterend keramiek en kunst.

Praktische informatie

De Mercat del Riu Rau in Jesus Pobre vindt plaats in de Riu Rau in het centrum van de stad. Het begint om 09:00 uur en eindigt rond 14:00 uur. In de zomer is de markt 's avonds van 18:00 tot 23:00 uur. Tijdens de markt is er goede live muziek. U kunt uw lokaal gekochte eten op het terras van de markt eten met een van de lokale wijnen of ambachtelijke bieren.

In de zomer is het moeilijk om een parkeerplaats te vinden in het dorp, aangezien de parkeerplaatsen beperkt zijn. Maar, geen zorgen! U passeert het dorp in de richting van La Xara. Bij het verlaten van het dorp is er een immense parkeerplaats aan de rechterhand.

De Mercat del Riurau is een perfecte gelegenheid om te combineren met een bezoek aan Restaurant La Tasca in Jesus Pobre. Dit Italiaanse restaurant staat bekend om zijn zelfgemaakte ravioli en uitstekende livemuziek.

Rastro market Jalón/ Xaló

Every Saturday a rastro market is held in Jalón (Xaló in the local dialect Valenciano) at the Costa Blanca. Rastro means a type of flea market. From 09:00 until 14:00 antique, brocante and bric-a-brac is sold along the riverside around the touristic office. Beside that you’ll find the common tourist souvenirs, food stands and professional salesmen.

This rastro in the Jalón Valley is one of the most famous and best visited in the region. That’s because the quality of the offered pieces is quite high for a flea market. Another reason is the presence of a farmer’s market (mercat de la tierra) with local craftwork, fresh food and local products. The farmer’s market can be found at the roundabout at the Masymas supermarket.

What more to see and do in Jalón

Around the rastro market Jalón there are some nice bars, bodegas and small shops to continue the experience. Opposite the rastro is Bodegas Xaló, the biggest one of the village. Beside wine, you’ll find typical local products like olive oil, almonds and sausages (embutidos).

In de richting van Masymas passeer je de beroemde bar Casa Aleluya, bekend om de charmante eigenaar, livemuziek en het heerlijke eten. Ernaast ligt Casa Claudia met typisch Spaanse tapas. Verderop langs de weg is Bodega Riko met lokale wijn en eten zoals Bodegas Xaló. Iets verder is de honingwinkel L'Abella, waar lokale honing en honingproducten worden verkocht.

The rastro market and farmer’s market in Jalón are held every Saturday from 09:00 until 14:00. In summertime the farmer’s market is in the evening hours because of the temperatures.
