La Costa Blanca se puede dividir aproximadamente en dos partes: Costa Blanca sur y Costa Blanca norte. Nuestras estancias son en la Costa Blanca norte, que se extiende desde Alicante hasta Dénia. El norte de la Costa Blanca se compone de varias regiones más pequeñas, como la Marina Alta.

Beaches Jávea/ Xàbia Costa Blanca

Sandy beaches, pebbles, steep cliffs. You’ll find all types of beaches at the Marina Alta. Most of them offer facilities like beach bars (chiringuitos) or restaurants and toilets. At some beaches you can rent beds and sunshades or watersports equipment. Life guards are only present in summer.

Jávea/ Xàbia

Playa la Granadella, Jávea. This beach is a perfect horseshoe-shaped bay at the nature reserve Granadella. The intense blue water, dramatic cliffs and Mediterranean pines make it one of the most beautiful on the Costa Blanca. There is a beach bar and a few nearby restaurants, and the bay is famous for snorkelling. Services: lifeguards, parking, restaurant, beach bar, boat and kayak rental, sun lounger rental

Cala Portitxol, Jávea. Playa el Arenal, Jávea. Arenal beach is the busiest beach on the Javea coast with fine sand and a slight slope in the shallow waters. Moraira

Playa del Portet, Moraira. One of the most idyllic beaches in the area: a beautiful cove with fine sand and beautiful clear water. Excellent for snorkling and watersports. Services: showers, accessible for disabled people, restaurants & bars, on street parking

Cala Moraig, Moraira. This spectacular beach is not the most accessible beach in Moraira but believes us, it is worth the journey. Breathtaking scenery, dramatic cliffs, and crystal clear water are awaiting you. This beach is perfect if you want to escape the Moraira crowds and enjoy the beach away from built-up areas. The left end of the beach is an unofficial nudist beach so keep that in mind!

Playa Ampolla, Moraira. With soft sand and shallow water, this is the most “family-friendly” beach in Moraira but also the busiest! The little ones can play safely on in the little stream that runs between the Barranc and the sea. They will also enjoy a playground, volleyball nets, shower and toilets as well as sunbed rentals. Grape picking in Llíber

Did you know this? The grape picking in Llíber in the Jalon Valley/ Vall de Pop started last week. Most of the grapes are used to produce wine. Grapes are mainly brought to the two local bodegas in Jalón/ Xaló. But some of the inhabitants of Lliber keep an old tradition alive. They process the grapes into raisins: an old tradition.

In 1472 the Moors living in the Jalon valley sent a selection of wines to the Valencian Court. They negotiated with traders in Javea the sale of a product which, in time, would become the base of Marina Alta’s economy: raisins. The area is now famous for its local wines which belong to the ‘denominación de origen’ of Alicante and raisins are still produced in small quantities.

They harvest the grapes, dip them in boiling water and let them dry for about 30 days. Drying is still done as decades ago: on cane beds outside. When weather requires, the cane beds are taken inside the riuraus. This prevents the grapes of rotting and fungus. Riuraus are old arched buildings made from stone. They protect the grapes from rain but allow the wind going through. The most distinctive riurau is in Jávea/ Xàbia: d’Arnauda.

Most of the sultanas are not eaten by the Spanish, but exported to the United Kingdom. They are still transported as in the past: by boat from Denia.

Denía consiguió varios mercados durante la semana; todos ellos populares y dignos de una visita. Los mejores mercados de Dénia son diversos y de buena calidad. ¡Una gran ventaja es que puedes ir todas las semanas!

El mercado del rastro o vintage de Dénia es el lugar perfecto para los amantes de los artículos de segunda mano y las antigüedades. Ambos se combinan en un mercado semanal. Los comerciantes muestran sus productos para aquellos que buscan artículos para restaurar o coleccionar.

Uno de los mercados más visitados de Dénia es el de los puestos de frutas y verduras. Los productores del municipio y alrededores exponen sus cosechas y productos frescos en este mercado de Dénia.

El tradicional mercado semanal de compras tiene lugar todos los lunes. La gama que se encuentra es muy diversa y variada. En el mercado encontrarás desde ropa hasta comestibles, pasando por juguetes o complementos para el hogar a precios muy competitivos.

Un gran reclamo para la temporada de primavera y verano en Dénia es el mercado de verano, también llamado mercadillo hippie. El lugar, tanto de día como de noche, invita a pasear tranquilamente para disfrutar de la vista y de los puestos de artesanía y complementos. Encontrarás todo tipo de artículos, desde bisutería y bisutería hasta bolsos, juguetes o souvenirs.

Información práctica sobre los mejores mercadillos de Dénia

  • Mercado semanal: todos los lunes por la mañana de 08:00 a 13:00 en la Explanada de Torrecremada
  • Mercado de frutas y verduras: todos los viernes por la mañana de 08:00 a 13:00 en la calle de la Via
  • Rastro: todos los viernes por la mañana de 08:00 a 13:00 en la Explanada de Torrecremada
  • Mercado de verano: de 17:00 a 00:00 todos los días de verano (15/06 – 15/09) y el resto del año los fines de semana y festivos. Situado en el bulevar a lo largo del puerto.

Mercat del Riu Rau Jesus Pobre

En el hermoso pueblo de Jesús Pobre hay un mercado de agricultores único todos los domingos: Mercat del Riu Rau. El mercado lleva el nombre del antiguo edificio Riu Rau donde se celebra el mercado. A Riu Rau es un edificio abovedado del pasado donde se secaban las uvas para transformarlas en pasas sultanas.

Hay muchos puestos, todos dirigidos por gente local, que venden frutas y verduras cultivadas localmente, en su mayoría de cultivo orgánico. También una variedad de puestos venden productos alimenticios caseros artesanales, como panes, cocas y empanadas, vino, cerveza artesanal y miel. A medida que cambia la temporada, también lo hace la comida que se vende.

Están los puestos con artesanía y arte: por ejemplo fantásticos pañuelos y chales de punto, hermosas joyas, plantas y cestas de mimbre hechas a mano. Las tiendas de los alrededores también están abiertas, con hermosas exhibiciones de cerámica y arte.

Información práctica

El Mercat del Riu Rau en Jesús Pobre tiene lugar en el céntrico Riu Rau en el centro del pueblo. Comienza a las 09:00 y termina alrededor de las 14:00. En verano el mercado es por la tarde de 18:00 a 23:00. Durante el mercado hay música en vivo de alta calidad. Puede comer su comida comprada localmente en la terraza del mercado con uno de los vinos locales o cervezas artesanales.

En verano es difícil encontrar aparcamiento en el pueblo, ya que las plazas de aparcamiento son limitadas. ¡Sin preocupaciones! Pasar el pueblo en dirección a La Xara. Al salir del pueblo hay un inmenso lugar de estacionamiento en el lado derecho.

El Mercat del Riurau es una ocasión perfecta para combinar con una visita a La Tasca restaurante en Jesus Pobre. Este restaurante italiano es famoso por sus ravioles caseros y su excelente música en vivo.

Rastro market Jalón/ Xaló

Every Saturday a rastro market is held in Jalón (Xaló in the local dialect Valenciano) at the Costa Blanca. Rastro means a type of flea market. From 09:00 until 14:00 antique, brocante and bric-a-brac is sold along the riverside around the touristic office. Beside that you’ll find the common tourist souvenirs, food stands and professional salesmen.

This rastro in the Jalón Valley is one of the most famous and best visited in the region. That’s because the quality of the offered pieces is quite high for a flea market. Another reason is the presence of a farmer’s market (mercat de la tierra) with local craftwork, fresh food and local products. The farmer’s market can be found at the roundabout at the Masymas supermarket.

What more to see and do in Jalón

Around the rastro market Jalón there are some nice bars, bodegas and small shops to continue the experience. Opposite the rastro is Bodegas Xaló, the biggest one of the village. Beside wine, you’ll find typical local products like olive oil, almonds and sausages (embutidos).

En dirección a Masymas pasarás por el famoso bar Casa Aleluya, conocido por el encantador dueño, la música en vivo y la excelente comida. Junto a él, se encuentra Casa Claudia con tapas típicas españolas. Más adelante en el camino está Bodega Riko con vino y comida local como Bodegas Xaló. Un poco más adelante está la tienda de miel L’Abella, donde se vende miel local y derivados.

The rastro market and farmer’s market in Jalón are held every Saturday from 09:00 until 14:00. In summertime the farmer’s market is in the evening hours because of the temperatures.
